Common questions

Do I really get root access?+

Yes. You SSH directly into your VPS as root on your own public IP, port 22. You can create users, install packages, run services — anything a dedicated Linux server allows.

Can I run Docker?+

Yes, on Grove and Canopy plans. Containers run inside your VPS with nesting enabled.

Which operating systems are available?+

Ubuntu, Debian, Alpine, Rocky Linux, Arch and more. You can reinstall to a different distro from the dashboard in seconds.

What happens if I hit my resource limits?+

Limits are hard guarantees, not suggestions. CPU is capped at your plan's cores, RAM at your plan's allocation, and bandwidth at your plan's rate — your workloads slow down gracefully instead of affecting others (and vice versa).

Can I upgrade my plan later?+

Yes — plan resizes apply instantly with no restart or migration. Upgrade from the dashboard whenever you need more.

Is outbound email (port 25) supported?+

Outbound port 25 is blocked at the network level to protect IP reputation. Use a transactional email API (SES, Resend, Postmark) or an SMTP relay on port 587.

How do the managed databases work?+

Pick PostgreSQL, MongoDB or MySQL from the dashboard and we provision it on managed infrastructure with automated backups and monitoring. You get a connection string within minutes — works with every driver and tool.

How does the file storage work?+

Buckets are managed through our Nest Storage API — a simple REST API with presigned upload/download URLs and SDK examples. Files are stored on redundant cloud infrastructure and served from our fast endpoints, or from your own custom domain.
